Common Knowledge About Reclaimed Rubber: Clarified by Reclaimed Rubber Manufacturers

Tires, as the components of a vehicle that make contact with the road surface, are undeniably crucial. Currently, there are numerous types of tires available, including various brands and tread patterns, and retreaded tires are equally abundant. Therefore, learning how to distinguish between new and old tires is essential! Today, we'll discuss how to avoid purchasing counterfeit tires and retreaded tires.

1. Carefully Inspect the Tread Scuffles

Genuine new tires feature numerous tire hairs on their surface. These hairs typically wear away within the first 5-10 kilometers of driving. Since retreaded tires cannot replicate these natural hairs, always check for their presence when replacing tires.

2. Lightly Scratch with a Key to Check for Marks

Genuine new tires feature rubber with superior elasticity. Gently scratch the surface with a key; the scratched area should quickly spring back without leaving a mark. Retreaded tires, however, have rubber that has lost elasticity due to prolonged use. Scratching them lightly will leave visible marks.

3. Focus on tire color and tread pattern

Shallow tread, uneven depth, inconsistent width, and asymmetrical patterns all indicate retreaded tires.

Fourth, distinguish by price

Price is a major factor. Avoid choosing “new tires” priced significantly below market value just to save a little money. Of course, some may inflate the price of retreaded tires to pass them off as genuine, but remember: cheap tires are rarely good tires!
