In the earliest stages of development, inner tubes for tires were primarily made from natural rubber. However, as tires transitioned from nylon radial construction to all-steel construction, higher demands were placed on inner tubes. This demand ultimately led to the development of butyl rubber inner tubes, primarily extracted from petroleum. Since natural rubber inner tubes were produced earlier, they are referred to as Class A tubes, while butyl rubber inner tubes, produced later, are called Class B tubes. Advantages Compared to natural rubber inner tubes, butyl rubber offers superior airtightness, heat resistance, and aging resistance. Disadvantages The manufacturing process is relatively complex and susceptible to variations in weather, humidity, and temperature. Production is difficult to control, and quality issues across different batches have occurred in factories worldwide, particularly in newly established facilities.
